Confused on a question in chapter 5 exercise 5-1. # 6.
Severe sepsis due to pseudomonas with septic shock. I coded R65.21 for the septic and severe shock and then B96.5 for pseudomonas. The answer says A41.52 (sepsis; gram-negative[organism]). Are we supposed to know that pseudomonas is a gram negative organism?
Answer:
Here is a link to gram-negative bacteria. I also have annotations in my book of the gram-negative bacteria for a reference for myself: <https://www.merckmanuals.com/home/infections/bacterial-infections-gram-negative-bacteria/overview-of-gram-negative-bacteria>
