CCO Admin asked:

I am currently in the CIC classes. This is my first coding class. Will this be an okay cert to get first even if I have not coded before. Currently I abstract and audit surgeons and anesthesiologists but I do not code what they do. So this part is new. If so.. would it be feasible to just do the CPC Blitz afterwards instead of the whole program?

Answer:

yes you can start with CIC especially if you are working in a hospital environment and/or have an interest in that environment. If you are brand new to the field and not committed to inpatient I usually recommend the CPC as the best well rounded core credential to start with then add secondary credentials to that. It might be best to get on a consult call with me or Alicia <http://cco.us/support>.
